Meet Krysten | Blogger Series

Blogs can really help us learn and grow. Our guest today, Krysten, starting blogging back when the term blog was basically brand new. Like myself, she started out keeping a blog kind of like an online diary and it has now expanded to so much more. Blogs really can be there for us through thick and thin, and that's why I love learning about how blogging has changed so many people's lives.

Meet Krysten!

First off, tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.

My blog, Why Girls Are Weird, began back in 2007. At the time I was planning my first wedding and I simply wanted a way to document that. Now in 2016 I have since divorced and I am married to another man. My blog changed from a way to document one small part of my life to a place to talk about all different aspects of my life - finding love again, family, my dogs, dog fostering, fashion, books, and everything in between. I talk about the good, the bad, and everything in between. I like to think I'm authentically me and I try to keep my blog as authentic as possible.

What inspired you to start blogging originally?

My currently blog was not my first. I began blogging back in 2002 and originally I liked the idea of keeping an online diary. I had no idea that there was a community out there so my first blogs were incredibly personal, I had no idea anyone was reading! I just wanted a place to talk about my life.

How did you got where you are?

My current blog grew slowly. At the time I still didn't realize that there was such a large community out there. I slowly discovered blogging groups and began to converse with other bloggers. Slowly readers came to my blog, I'd say it probably grew from starting in 2009. And 2011 is when I discovered I could also work with brands through blogging. I am continuously learning new things about the blog world and growing. It may not be as fast as others but it has been quite the journey!

What do you hope to achieve with your blog?

I really want to continue to grow with my readers and work with brands. I love the idea of making my blog a full time gig but for now I'm happy to be able to just share my life with others. When I was going through my divorce I felt very alone and I shared that because I wanted to be able to be someone to someone else going through the same thing as me. I want to continue to share even the hard stuff so that I can help others.

How has blogging changed your life?

Blogging has been incredible for me. It has helped me to gain a better understanding of who I am. I feel like I'm a stronger, more well rounded person because of blogging. I have also work with some amazing brands and I love having the opportunity to work with them and share their products with my readers. But most importantly I have made some amazing friends through blogging, people I never would have met otherwise. I am so lucky to have found blogging because it has helped me to find some incredible people, and because of that blogging has changed my life.
