Introducing: #FollowMeFriday

Have you ever tried something new, and then it failed so hard that you never wanted to do it again? Well, that's kind of how vlogging went for me. I loved the idea and the concept but editing long videos was terrible and uploading them to YouTube took absolutely too long! Okay, now enter Periscope.

If you're new around here, you might be learning for the first time that I really like sharing myself with people online. I love blogging and journaling online, tweeting and status updating, and I love sharing bits of myself with people that I think might enjoy my thoughts.

About two weeks ago I did a Periscope and had an amazing response from an amazing friend. She told me that I should really go for this Periscope thing because its so cool and new and unexplored. I liked the idea of taking on something that not everyone knew a lot about and making up my own strategies. She recommended that I Periscope my life at least once a week.

What is Periscope?

Okay, so am I getting too far ahead? Raise your hand if you don't know what Periscope is. Well, its a video streaming social platform run by the same people who created Twitter (actually, Twitter and Periscope are very connected, which is great). In a nut shell, Periscoping is like FaceTiming everyone at once. Anyone can tune in, its 100% live, and people can choose to follow you or simply leave. Live chat is enabled and you can give your favorite Periscopers lots of "hearts." It's a really neat platform for someone like me who just likes interacting at all times.

If you've ever watched video blogs on YouTube then you have a general understanding about how people are using Periscope. The only differences between Periscope and vlogging on YouTube are
  1. Periscope is a live feed.
  2. However, YouTube videos need to be uploaded after the fact.
  3. Periscope videos can only be rewatched up to 24 hours after they are originally aired.
  4. YouTube videos are on the internet as long as you leave them there.
  5. Periscope is so much simpler.
"It may sound crazy, but we wanted to build the closest thing to teleportation," the Periscope's founders said. "While there are many ways to discover events and places, we realized there is no better way to experience a place right now than through live video." And that's what I want to bring to you. I want to share my daily happenings and give you all some amazing content that is exclusive only to the people who tune in for #FollowMeFriday!

Why should you tune in?

So you're like, "cool, you're going to share your life... I don't think I'm interested." And if you truly think that, then I'm cool with that, too. But I think this will be a wonderful experience for us all to do something different and amazing. A chance for us to connect and talk.

Also, during #FollowMeFriday, any person who follows me on any social media account during the 30-60 minute broadcast will get an instant follow back. I love connecting with my readers and interacting with you all in any way possible.

Every week will have a theme that I will announce 24 hours before hand via Twitter. These themes could be anything from personal or blog related to completely business related. I might sit down and chat with you about the effects of Facebook ads on your business page or I might give you an apartment tour so you can see how things run behind the scenes. No matter what, I hope you learn a little bit more about me and what I do.

Speaking of themes, I'm looking for some suggestions for upcoming #FollowMeFriday's. I'd love to get your help--leave your #FollowMeFriday subject suggestions in the comment section below. And don't forget to tune in this Friday and every Friday!!

#FollowMeFriday takes place every Friday at 2pm eastern time. Follow Danyell Bailey on Periscope to sign up for notifications of when she goes live!
